Exceeding customer service expectation has shown to be valuable to Divine Glory clients in a manner that cannot be measured. Now, Divine Glory has added another layer to its services: Certified Grief Coach. As a Certified Grief Coach, LaTanyua Thompson has experienced her losses and has grown through coping with her grief. She has realized that grieving through those losses was an important step in her own life, personal growth, and emotional maturity. She saw the need for people to have someone with whom to work alongside ; someone who has been through the same experiences and issues. Everyone goes through the process at a different pace, and all of us at one time or another will experience grief. But there are some activities, when handled with the proper approach, that can help us regain our sense of purpose and balance, so that we go on to absorb and learn from all that we have before us – instead of being immersed in regret or sorrow.
Leaving and imparting her clients with hope for their own future is a significant part of what La Tanyua does in her work as a Certified Grief Coach. “I understand the importance and value of having someone work with you through your grieving process. I want to help people through this process so that their memories are distilled to a celebration of their loved one’s life, and leave them with hope for their own future”.
“As a certified grief coach, I know that it is difficult for a client to understand and accept that there is a difference between a bond and bondage. A bond is being connected positively to someone or something, and bondage is a negative concept of being held back from someone or something and not being able to move forward in a manner that causes effective change and growth. I have created a safe environment for clients that will allow them to open up about their true feelings, and identify and remove stumbling blocks as they move forward in life.
For example, I ask them such questions as: Have you recently lost a loved one? If yes, how are you doing? Please don’t provide me the answer that you believe I want to hear, but the one that is difficult for you to share. Take a moment, let your guard down and know that your answer is only between you and me. I’m not a family member, close friend, or co-worker, therefore I will not judge you or hold anything you say against you. I am a coach who understands the dynamics of losing a loved one. I know first hand that it is difficult and am attuned with how we spend months and years trying to get our life back on track and to proceed to propel our life in the right direction. We search in people, things, seminars and etc. for the answer to our happiness without identifying specifically what makes us happy. You would not believe how many people based their happiness on making someone else happy. True happiness comes from the inside out and not the outside in.
We all have been provided information that is not true that does not help with our grieving process.
• Do not discuss it
• Do not show emotions, be strong
• Do not make decisions
• Do not trust anyone
• Do not change
The first thing that I teach and discuss with my clients is the grieving process. I engage in conversations with my clients and ask them probing questions that cause them to search deeper inside of themselves for the answer. We deal with their belief system and why they believe what they believe and how the mind works.
